NEW YORK--The FBI today revealed a chilling plot by Al Qaeda to bring down ESPN’s fantasy football site. Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the plot was “very far along” and had the potential to disrupt fantasy football activity for up to 3 million users. “As we understand it, cyber hackers were actively trying to bring down ESPN’s fantasy football site before network admins became aware of the problem and alerted the authorities. The scope and sophistication of this plot are chilling. If successful, nobody would be able to access their fantasy football stats for like a whole week.” According to the source, the attack was scheduled for Wednesday morning to coincide with the crucial waiver wire pickup period. |
