BOSTON--Heat guard Dwyane Wade pulled off another miracle performance Tuesday night against the Celtics, scoring 12 straight points after the final buzzer to force Game 6 in Miami. Wade’s latest heroics, which featured four consecutive three-pointers, further cemented his status as one of the most clutch players in the game.

“D-Wade was amazing,” Heat coach Erick Spoelstra said after the comeback. “He’s been amazing for us all

series. To come out like that and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat is just a huge lift for us. I mean, the game was over. He literally stole a victory. The Celtics weren’t even on the court. They were celebrating in the locker room like they won the thing. Heh. I guess that celebration was a little premature, huh guys?”

Spoelstra said his team will be “flying high” heading into Thursday’s Game 6 in Miami.

“We couldn’t be higher right now,” said Spoelstra. “Boston’s still a great team and they have a lot of pride, but we’ve got the X-factor: Dwyane Wade. We also have Mike Beasley, Dorell Wright, and Carlos Arroyo, warm bodies that Dwyane can pass the ball to momentarily if he loses his dribble.”

The Celtics, meanwhile, went from celebrating to soul-searching as they tried to piece together the events that led to their epic collapse.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Paul Pierce, a towel draped over his head. “We had this game won. The buzzer sounded. We walked off the court. And he just stole it from us. I mean, this is a guy who plays till the final buzzer, then keeps playing some more. How do you defend that?”

Kevin Garnett, looking unusually subdued, admitted that the team was discouraged.

“It’s obviously discouraging,” said Garnett. “No lead is safe with D-Wade in the game, even if the game is already over. The only way to beat him is to make sure D-Wade fouls out of the game, although that’s tough to do because the refs don’t like to call fouls on him. Hey, who can blame them? The guy is awesome. I wouldn’t want to call a foul on him, either.”

As for Wade, he downplayed his epic performance, saying he was just trying to keep him team in the game.

“I was just doing my job, trying to keep my team in the game,” he said. “I can’t take all the credit for it, anyway. My teammates had a big part in the comeback, like when Mike Beasley fanned me with a towel between three-pointers and Dorell Wright screamed ‘Yea!’ from the bench. Hopefully these guys will all be back here next year, plus Chris Bosh and LeBron James to, you know, round out the roster.”
