NEW YORK—With an uncapped 2011 looming for the NFL, players and teams are bracing themselves for the worst. Fans are also bracing themselves, though most of them aren’t sure why. According to a recent poll, 80 percent of fans don’t actually know what happens in an uncapped year. “Oh, geez, I’m really dreading this uncapped year. It’s gonna be chaos,” said Gene Holland, 47, of Buffalo. “There’s gonna be no salary cap, so then players can…get paid a lot more? But then again, there’s no salary floor so they could be paid a lot less. I think. Which would mean…something. I don’t know. All I know is that everybody keeps telling me how bad this is going to be and I have to take their word for it. I just hope that this country can ban together and get through this crisis.” The poll also indicated that 93 percent of Americans didn’t know the NFL had a salary floor and 100 percent didn’t care either way as long as they have something to bet on next year.
