TORONTO--Tampa Rays batters braced themselves for some wild throwing on Wednesday night when Blue Jays pitcher Brett Cecil took the mound. Cecil, who wears thick, wrap-around goggles, is probably extremely wild, Rays batters concluded. “Oh, God. Look who’s coming to the mound. It’s the wild thing,” said centerfielder Carl Crawford. “Look at him, all goggled out. I bet he’s going to come out throwing gas at our heads. I guess I should be ready to duck. There’s no telling where these pitches are going. Hey, wild thing! Why don’t you take a Ritalin and calm down a little? We don't want you opening fire on the clubhouse or anything!” Cecil, who is 5-2 with a 3.81 ERA, pitched seven innings and allowed two runs.
