DENVER--Just minutes after welcoming former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning to the Denver Broncos family, Broncos president John Elway made a startling discovery: Peyton Manning suffered a debilitating neck injury during the 2010 season that nearly ended his career. Elway made the discovery while negotiating Manning’s new contract with agent Tom Condon, insiders reported. “John was like, ‘Whoa, whoa wait a minute here. What neck injury?’” said a source close to the negotiations. “Then he was like, ‘Are you telling me this guy's damaged goods? Why did you keep this from me until now?’ He started getting all red in the face. His veins were popping out. It was a little awkward. In his defense, Tom and Peyton didn’t say a damn thing about the neck injury until now. I don't know why they thought they had to hide it from him.”
